Why we built free household tools

Many UK households search for quick answers before they commit to a new app or supplier call. UtilityPilot’s free tools are designed to give you straightforward estimates and checklists, using official-style data structures where possible.

These pages are separate from the UtilityPilot customer portal. You can use them without signing in. If you later create a free account, you can save bill results, track due dates and compare charges across electricity, gas, water, broadband and more in one workspace.

What you can use today

All six free tools are live: council tax, energy price cap, AI bill check, water supplier, broadband availability and EPC energy saving guidance. Compare estimates, check areas by postcode, or upload a bill for a quick summary.

We do not show fabricated EPC ratings, broadband speeds or supplier names where we have no verified data — each tool page explains its limits clearly.

Guidance, not government advice

UtilityPilot is an independent UK utility intelligence platform. We are not a government service. Tool outputs are estimates for guidance. Always confirm council tax band, supplier details and contractual charges using official sources or your own bills.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need a UtilityPilot account to use these tools?

No. The tools on this section of the site work without registration. Creating a free account lets you save results, upload bills to your archive, and receive payment reminders in the full dashboard.

  • Where does the data come from?

Each tool page lists its own data source and last updated date. Council tax figures are based on local authority published schedules aligned to GOV.UK guidance. Other datasets will cite Ofgem, Water UK, Ofcom or EPC open data when those tools launch.

  • How is this different from the UtilityPilot portal?

The portal at portal.utilitypilot.co.uk is for signed-in customers: bill upload, AI extraction, workspace analytics, and optional supplier comparison with your consent. These public tools are lightweight calculators and checkers for quick research.
